Enriched environments

Enriched environments on a smiling leash.

Smiling leashes are not just for walking, they are multipurpose.

Why don't we use some of the energy that we put into walking with our dogs into this interesting activity?

An enriched environment can be just about any area that is interesting for the dogs to explore, using all of their senses. You can set up an enriched environment in your house or garden, using everyday objects from different places. You can also visit a new place on your walks or ask your neighbours if your dog can explore their garage.

Did you know that activities like this help grow new brain cells? Pretty amazing, helpful and fun at the same time.

Exploring enriched environments will boost your dog's self-confidence. They get to choose which objects to check out and how. Having choices makes a massive difference in a dog's life.

Build up the stimulation little by little to make sure your dog copes and remains motivated.

Enriched environments are especially important for young dogs. They help develop their confidence and coordination, teach them how to resolve situations and will in time turn them into an adult coping animal.
